"Who is M. Reed?
And why buy from him?
M. Reed is Mike Reed and that's me. I am a former editor of Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine. I now write columns and articles in that and the other top aquarium magazines, and have written many other fish articles in the past. My related background includes a degree in biology, earned when I completed the pre-veterinary-medicine program at Cornell University. I have been a science editor and writer for most of my career, including many years as director of the science and the medical yearbooks at Encyclopaedia Britannica. The aspects of our hobby that interest me most and in which I have done the most study, experimentation, and development are feeding behavior and the capacity of foods to enhance health, color, and activity.
The best products for your fish at the best prices. I started M. Reed Enterprises in 1992 in order to make the foods I feed my own fish (foods I developed over many years) available to the public. Compared to the big catalog companies, M. Reed Enterprises is still tiny. This means our overhead is low and our commitment to pleasing you is very high. This translates into low product and shipping prices that save you considerable amounts of money. You may not know it, but a lot of companies make a few bucks on their "Shipping and Handling" charges. I don't.
M. Reed Enterprises is your source for highly nutritious, tropical fish food, including some technically advanced, all-natural, color- and behavior-enhancing foods you can get nowhere else. We also supply other aquarium products of the highest quality: From frozen, dry, and live foods to great fish videos, aquarium water supplements, and more.
Let's talk some more specific dollars and sense about my products:

DOLLARS
The main reasons people shop by mailorder or on the Web is for convenience and to save money.
That's smart shopping, and I keep our prices so low that I welcome your comparing them with prices anyplace else.
Our dry foods, particularly our
VitaProTM Plus
line of flakes for example, are more nutritious than any other flake foods, and still cost less even after you pay our very
low shipping costs! Another example is our unique offering of red wiggler worms and the
means to raise them indefinitely. What a deal: you pay a small amount one time and then have for your fish--at no further cost
--an endless supply of one of the most nutritious live foods known!
And look at our shipping costs in the table below. They're so low you could drown trying to reach them.

SENSE
Some of you already know me from my columns, articles, and various other ways. I am a hobbyist just as you are. I am not part of some large, nameless corporation that sees you as cash for their bottom line. Like you, I care about what products I use, and I have personally approved all the products my company offers. If I would not use them, I would not offer them. And if you ever were to be unhappy with any of my offerings, you know where to reach me--right here, from this site--not through some service rep from a company run by people who are just businessmen and don't know a black redtailed shark from a great white shark. So, do business with somebody who has extensive knowledge of and first-hand experience in the science and art of caring for tropical fish.
